Emmanuelle Grey Rossum, known professionally as Emmy Rossum, was born on September 12, 1986, in New York City. From a young age, she displayed an aptitude for music and the performing arts, taking opera lessons at the Metropolitan Opera at the age of seven and later attending the prestigious Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts.

Breakthrough Role in "The Phantom of the Opera"

Rossum's career took off in 2004 when she landed the lead role of Christine DaaƩ in the film adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical "The Phantom of the Opera."
