Sudan's Sovereign Council leads delegation to South Sudan for peace talks
Sudan's Sovereign Council Chairman Abdel Fattah al-Burhan has arrived in South Sudan for peace talks with armed groups. The talks are aimed at ending years of conflict in Sudan's Darfur region and other areas. Al-Burhan is leading a delegation of Sudanese officials, including the head of the Sovereign Council's security and defense committee, Lt. Gen. Shams El Din Kabbashi, and the head of the Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF), Minni Minnawi.
Al-Burhan meets with South Sudan's President Salva Kiir
Al-Burhan met with South Sudan's President Salva Kiir on Monday to discuss the peace talks. During the meeting, al-Burhan said that the two countries were "determined to achieve peace and stability in Sudan." Kiir said that South Sudan was "committed to supporting the peace process in Sudan."
Peace talks set to begin on Tuesday
