Coronation Street to Tackle Botched Cosmetic Surgery Abroad in New Storyline

Coronation Street is set to tackle the issue of botched cosmetic surgery abroad in a new storyline.

The storyline will follow the character of Abi Franklin, played by Sally Carman, who travels to Turkey to undergo a number of cosmetic procedures. However, the surgery goes wrong, leaving Abi with life-changing injuries.

The storyline is based on real-life events. In recent years, there has been a rise in the number of people travelling abroad for cosmetic surgery, often to countries where the procedures are cheaper.

However, there have also been a number of cases of botched surgery, which have left patients with life-changing injuries. The storyline on Coronation Street will highlight the dangers of travelling abroad for cosmetic surgery and the importance of doing your research before undergoing any procedure.

The storyline will also explore the emotional impact of botched surgery.

Abi will be left with both physical and psychological scars from her experience. She will struggle to come to terms with her new appearance and will have to learn to live with the consequences of her decision.

The storyline is expected to be a powerful and moving portrayal of the dangers of botched cosmetic surgery. It is hoped that it will raise awareness of the issue and encourage people to think twice before travelling abroad for cosmetic procedures.

Coronation Street producer Iain MacLeod said: "This is a really important storyline for us to tell."

"We want to highlight the dangers of botched cosmetic surgery and the importance of doing your research before undergoing any procedure.

"We also want to explore the emotional impact of botched surgery and the journey that Abi goes on as she comes to terms with her new appearance.

"We hope that this storyline will be a powerful and moving portrayal of a very real issue."

The storyline is due to air in the autumn.
