WEB Tube map redesigned by Essex lecturer goes viral
A new version of the London Underground map has been redesigned by a university lecturer and has gone viral.
The map has been redrawn in a circles and spokes design by Maxwell Roberts, who has lectured in psychology at the University of Essex for 30 years.
Roberts said the current Tube map was ineffective and did not reflect the true geography of London.
“The current Tube map is a mess,” he said. “It’s confusing and difficult to use. My map is much simpler and easier to understand.”
Roberts’ map has been praised by many for its clarity and simplicity. It has been shared widely on social media and has been featured in several news articles.
Transport for London, which operates the London Underground, has said it is “aware” of Roberts’ map but has no plans to change the official Tube map.
