The Last Supper Judas

Judas Iscariot's Betrayal of Jesus

The Last Supper

The Last Supper was the final meal that Jesus shared with his apostles in Jerusalem before his death. During the meal, Jesus predicts that one of his apostles will betray him. The Gospel of Mark does not provide a motive for Judas' betrayal, but it does present Jesus predicting it at the Last Supper.

30 Pieces of Silver

Judas Iscariot, one of Jesus' apostles, arranged to betray him for 30 pieces of silver. The 30 pieces of silver were the standard price for a slave at that time. Judas' betrayal of Jesus for such a small amount of money shows the depth of his greed and treachery.

Jesus Reveals Judas

At the Last Supper, Jesus reveals Judas as the one who will betray him. Jesus tells Judas to "Do what you are going to do quickly." Judas then leaves the meal and goes to the authorities to arrange for Jesus' arrest.

The Betrayal

Judas leads the authorities to the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus is praying. Judas kisses Jesus on the cheek, which is the signal for the authorities to arrest him. Jesus is then taken to trial and sentenced to death by crucifixion.
