Dario Kresic Retires from Professional Football

Former Mainz and Bayer Leverkusen Goalkeeper Hangs Up His Gloves

Dario Kresic, the Croatian goalkeeper who played for Mainz and Bayer Leverkusen, has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 40. Kresic, who was born in Vukovar, Croatia, on January 11, 1984, played for several clubs throughout his career, including Slaven Belupo, Lokomotiva, and Rijeka in his home country, as well as Panionios in Greece and Mainz and Bayer Leverkusen in Germany.

A Successful Career in Croatia and Germany

Kresic made over 300 appearances in the Croatian First Football League, winning the league title with Dinamo Zagreb in 2006. He also represented Croatia at the international level, earning nine caps for the national team. In Germany, Kresic played over 100 matches in the Bundesliga, helping Mainz qualify for the UEFA Europa League in 2016.

Kresic retired after a successful season with Bayer Leverkusen, where he played 32 times in all competitions. He will now focus on his role as a football agent with the agency ekipacounselors.
