Improved Dhcp Identification For Windows And Android Devices

MSFT 50 XBOX: New DHCP Feature in Windows 10 Update

Improved DHCP Identification for Windows and Android Devices

MSFT 50 and Android-DHCP-13 for Enhanced Vendor Identification

The latest Windows 10 April 2018 Update brings a significant improvement to the DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) client, enhancing the way devices identify themselves on a network.

Previously, the "Client Vendor Name" for Windows-based devices was simply "MSFT 50." However, with this update, certain Windows devices will now display as "MSFT 50 XBOX." This change reflects the integration of XBOX functionality into these devices.

Additionally, DHCP clients can now identify Android devices running Android 13 using the vendor class identifier "android-dhcp-13." This update improves device identification and allows for more accurate network configuration and management.

The vendor class is an optional field in DHCP requests that allows clients to provide additional information about their device type and capabilities.

This enhancement in the Windows 10 DHCP client provides better visibility and control over network devices, streamlining network management and improving the overall user experience.
